The historical buildings

With the walkers' Guide to Uzerche's history,
you can discover the town's numérous architectural treasures
of Uzerche.

Essential viewing for every tourist to Uzerche is the roman Abbey of St Pierre standing proud in its imposing high position.

Equally essential is the XI th century crypt, undeniably the only one of its kind in the area.

A number of the most important buildings
date from the XVI th, XVII th and XVIII th centuries
and feature remarkable sculptures, doors and towers.

All around are names that evoke
the rich history of the town.
Look out the Hotel Joyet de Maubec
and the Chateau Pontier,
just two names to conjure with...
The renaissance-styled House of Eyssartier
(Place de la Libération in the old town)
found itself at the center of the famous
Lafarge Affair in the XIX th century.

Many buildings are distinguished by their
traditional half-timbered style.

Most of the roofs have been recovered in slate.
