Inside the church Saint-Yrieux,
dating from the fourteenth centry,
you will discover the stone tomb of the marquis
Philippe de Meilhards, Louis XIV's marshal camp.
In the choir there is a work of the mastor sculptor
Antoine Cruveilher, whose the recent restoration
has allowed the update of frescos on ochre and red shades.

In the heart of the village,
admire the chateau, which radiated mainly in the middle Ages,
when place's knight were allowed to beat "monnaie".
It was rebuilt in the eighteenth centry after a fire.

The rich past of Meilhards is also translated by
the existence in the Laurière locality of goldmines,
called the "aurières", exploited of Gallo-Roman period
till the beginning of the 20th century.

In the south of the market town spurts out the limpid
water of the holy fountain-Radegonde which has
a reputation for being miraculous.
This spring whose the veneration is of pagan extraction,
was converted to Christianity and a chapel was built.
