Natural history

Uzerche stands at an altitude of some 330 metres
and looks down to the valley of the Vézère river.

The town is an essential stop-off point for every tourist to the Limousin.
Here you will find nature and architecture blended to create something harmonious and unusual.

The untamed waters of the Vézère river meander their way around the town reflecting each turret and tower in their true glory.

A town of trees and water

The geological composition of the soil is of gneiss, schist and veins of amphibole and quartz.

Uzerche is in an area of France where the rich pastureland makes for easy rearing of its famous Limousin cattle.

Essential to Uzerche are the forests, each a paradise for pickers of mushrooms and birdwatchers.

Lakes, streams and rivers tempt you to fish.

Try your luck with trout, pike, carp and perch found in fresh waters here to enchant you.
